We've now extended Central Manage with Gradebook Characteristics management, giving Group Administrators a way to manage and synchronise key Gradebook Characteristics across schools from a single location.
Once a management group is selected, administrators can work across five characteristic types:

- Transpose Elements
- Weighting Elements
- Indicator Elements
- Reporting Keys

For Gradeset and Transpose Elements, administrators can drill into individual elements to manage the values underneath: adding new entries, editing existing ones, or removing anything outdated. Before deploying a change across the group, they can also see exactly how many schools currently use that characteristic.
It gives central teams one point of control for academic configuration across every school they manage.

Each school uses different grade labels, indicator definitions, or weighting values from the others, and the group's academic leadership team can't compare performance or agree a shared assessment framework.
With Central Manage, the Group Administrator defines the agreed characteristics once, checks which schools currently use each one, and implements the approved configuration across participating campuses. When the group introduces a new reporting key – or updates an indicator – that change happens centrally instead of schools recreating it separately.

What's next: medical centre reference data
Gradebook Characteristics is the first area to move under Central Manage. Next on the roadmap is medical centre reference data, extending the same central control to the categories schools use to record health and welfare information, including condition and consent types, vaccination records, medication and inventory data, and medical centre diary and visit logs.
It's the same logic as Gradebook Characteristics: once every school in a group works from the same medical centre definitions, reporting and analytics across the group become something you can trust rather than reconcile by hand. It's on track for autumn term this academic year.
