Looking for a Placement Year with an Established Software Company?
Each year for the past three years, we have been pleased to be able to offer one university or Postgraduate student a 12-month placement with us.
In doing so, we hope to support the future of Education Technology by providing chosen candidates with a holistic overview of working in teams such as Customer Support, Technical Support and Software Development.
What would I do on a placement with iSAMS?
We want our placement year to support you by boosting your CV having provided you with an array of experience across the board, enhancing your skills in the workplace and increasing your employability by the end of your 12 months with us.
Because of this, as a successful application we will give you exposure to a number of areas within our Technical Departments. Usually this begins with our Customer Support team, where you’ll experience a Help Desk environment, learn some top tips and tricks delivering high quality customer service within an ITIL framework.
From here, you’ll move on to our Technical Support team where you’ll use the front-end knowledge you’ve picked up with Customer Support to learn the code on which iSAMS was built, our core database and how to problem-solve technical queries from our international client base.
Finally, sitting in our Development Team, your holistic knowledge of our system will be put to use looking at our database schema and exploring the various projects our Development Team are working on and how we deliver them.
The valuable experience you’ll gain with us will be fed back to your placement Tutor, as required, to ensure your hard work is accurately reflected on your university transcript.
What type of people are iSAMS looking for?
If you’re in your second year of university, or are a postgraduate student, working towards a degree in Computer Science or similar, then this could be the ideal placement for you.
In applying for this, you’ll be looking to improve your knowledge, understanding and experience of SQL and coding, and will be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and desire to learn that aligns with our company values.
When do placements typically start?
We offer one placement each year, beginning in July or August for 12 months. We’re currently accepting applications for July 2020.

Our first placement student, Hamzah, completed his year with us in 2017 and we’re thrilled he recently accepted a role with us as a full-time member of our Development Team – so please do keep in touch!
