We're changing our remote management
We are currently in the process of switching our remote assistance tool from LogMeIn to Bomgar for remote management of iSAMS servers.
We first advised of our intention to review our remote management service last year and having now completed our trials and testing, I’m pleased to announce that we are now in a position to have all schools using the new service.
Why are we changing our remote management?
We are committed to ensuring we offer fast, easy and secure access to our client servers in order that our Support teams can provide quick, secure and efficient problem solving support should you require it.
Bomgar offers a more enterprise-class solution for remote assistance. It also provides increased security and data protection. All session data is guarded by SSL encryption and support sessions are recorded so that you have a full audit trail of any chat activity, along with all requests for access made by our technical staff at iSAMS. We feel it allows us to provide a much better remote access service for our client schools.
When is this happening?
The switch from LogMeIn to Bomgar is underway now and we would be grateful if you could install Bomgar on you school server(s) at your earliest convenience.
We will continue to remotely support schools using LogMeIn until 31st December 2016. After this date, remote support will only be available for schools using Bomgar.
Given this, we strongly advise that you make plans to install Bomgar as soon as possible and no later than 31st December 2016 to ensure your school can continue receiving remote assistance when needed.
How do I install bomgar?
To install Bomgar and remove LogMeIn please follow the simple steps below:
Open all outbound connections over port 443 to remote.isams.co.uk (188.8.131.52).
If the proxy is being used internally, all outbound connections will need to bypass the above port in order to be able to download Bomgar to your server (we recommend you consider this and refer to your manufacturer documentation for any additional guidance).
Download the ZIP archive.
Once downloaded, extract the ZIP Archive and launch BomgarInstaller.exe.
In the set-up wizard fill in all fields and click "Install Application", this will install Bomgar in silent mode. The application will automatically close once Bomgar has been installed.
If the LogMeIn application installed on the server is solely used for iSAMS support, then leave the “Uninstall LogMeIn Client” checkbox ticked.
If you have a two server set-up where one server is for web files and the other server is for the database, this process will need to be completed on both servers.
